Part 3: Neptune in Pisces - 2011 - 2026

The ingresses of Neptune into Pisces, a look at previous years with Neptune in Pisces, what to expect this time around….

On April 4 2011, the planet Neptune begins its journey through Pisces, another symbolic key enhancing the shift in human consciousness slowly unfolding on our planet. Neptune has strong associations with Pisces, both water energy, both belonging to a realm of the mysterious, the inspired and the imagined. Both have no boundaries, build no barriers, escapist and mystical in attitude. Neptune swims quite freely in this watery and boundless sign. We find no wave breakers in Pisces for Neptune as we consider a world letting loose and moving forward with what must be done, changed, seeded, even destroyed as we look optimistically towards the future.

During its sojourn in the fixed sign of Aquarius, Neptune has had its bounds , has been far more restricted than is its nature. Every planet has a particular purpose in a sign , each planet spends different times in a sign depending on its orbit. Neptune will enter Pisces in April 2011, leave at the beginning of August and return in early February 2012 where it will stay until 2026 . With every passage through a sign a planet is either considered an el supremo guest, a friend, an enemy or a pain in the arse! Neptune moving into Pisces is the el supremo guest as Pisces can and will deliver anything Neptune may demand or ask for. Neptune doesn’t ask for the tangible, he doesn’t even ask, he sends messages, waves and undercurrents and Pisces responds. Together these two create an overwhelming image, one so full of the imaginative, wild, out of this world, inspired ideas, concepts and passionate actions ever experienced, but also perhaps the most depraved and destructive. The destructive element comes in as Pisces being the last sign of the zodiac, the one concerned with the next cycle, destroys that which is not appropriate for the next wave.

Neptune last spent time in a water sign in Scorpio in the 1960’s when peace, love, flower power, drugs and open sexuality changed our world and our cultural attitudes. Now just think, Scorpio is a fixed sign and still all this happened, shifted and changed! This also had much to do with the revolutionary presence of a Pluto Uranus conjunction in mid Virgo throughout this time. Despite Virgo’s restraint and Scorpio’s fixity we still experienced a world in revolutionary fervour. This is mindboggling when we consider the coming planetary line-up. This time we have Neptune in the mutable sign of Pisces, with Uranus in Aries demanding the freedom to express itself, squaring Pluto in Capricorn. The cardinal energy of fire and earth will challenge the world and its governing foundations. Not much restraint with this combination, as Uranus fuels change, Pluto demolishes established rules and Neptune infuses inspiration. These three outer planets all work together to encourage us to construct a new and better world.

Pisces imaginatively germinates and nurtures the seeds of the future . With Uranus’ sojourn through Pisces in the past seven years we witnessed the churning of the waters and the seeding ideas of what must change. With Uranus in Aries those seeds begin to sprout and some have already done so. Neptune will now connect the fragmented pieces of the Uranian turmoil and weave them magically back together . Germinating the seeds of the future , has much to do with what we allow ourselves to believe and hope for. With this passage we are challenged to trust in a future we can’t see but can only imagine. From the personal microcosm to the global macrocosm, these two energies create greater access to highly passionate and emotional experiences and actions, collective inspiration and insightful motivation. We are also prompted to think of all invisible energies, ephemeral, mysterious and mystical. With this journey the paranormal becomes normal. We step into the oceanic realm of the spiritual and the divine, where the swimmer doesn’t follow a particular current, but swims to what feels right, what smells good, what looks the best, senses working overtime for sure.

It’s interesting to look back previous eras when Neptune journeyed through Pisces to get an idea of what we may expect this time round. What becomes apparent with hindsight is that boundaries were broken, radical ideas were germinated which led to paradigm shifts in human consciousness. These times seemed to add to our understanding of ourselves as part of the world and the greater universe. What spawned during these times had far reaching and long lasting influences that didn’t seem to be integrated immediately, but slowly permeated our world view , human psyche, wisdom and knowledge. Many influential philosophies, theories and practices developed about the connection between body, mind and spirit and the power of healing that are still very much part of our world view today and will be added to and developed during this phase of the cycle.

Here are some of the inspiring and significant ideas that I found transpired during previous Neptune in Pisces eras. Not all periods are noted and by no means is this complete :

443 – 430 BCE

- Empedocles writes on the four humours : blood , yellow bile, black bile and phlegm.

Later these became associated with the four elements and then the four humours.

- Meron establishes the four solstice points.

- The Parthenon was built. A 13 metre statue of Zeus was built in Athens

280-267 BCE

- Zeno of Citium (334 - 262 BCE) a Greek philosopher founded the Stoic School of Philosophy emphasising the goodness and peace of mind gained from living a life of virtue in accordance with nature

1029 – 1043 CE

- Abd All?h ibn S?n?’ (980-1037CE) created the first Pharmocopeia, a great synthesis of practice which included arithmetic, geometry, astronomy, music, earth science, philosophy, metaphysics, psychology, physiology. He was also the first known person to study infectious diseases and the benefits of quarantine.

- On May 24, 1032, he observed the earliest recorded transit of Venus.

1520 – 1534 CE

- Copernicus gave his first talk on the sun centred solar system to Pope Clement VII, the idea was spawned.

- Magellan's first circumnavigation of the globe was completed in 1522.

- Paracelsus (1493 -1541) physician, botanist, alchemist, astrologer - did most of his great work during this time. Pioneering the of use of chemicals and minerals in medicine. He used the 7 metals, 7 known planets associating them with 7 organs known as the Great Idea of Harmony, the macrocosm and the microcosm.

1684 – 1698 CE

- Isaac Newton published Principia in 1687. Newtonian mechanics explained the laws of gravity, laws of motion and the universe as a mechanical machine. Newtonian physics dominated the scientific view of the laws of the Universe for 300 years The idea that God created the universe and left it to work on its own came from Newtonian theory.

- The Salem witch hunts and trials

1848-1862 CE

- Darwin published The Origin of Species in 1859 expounding the theory of Evolution

- Marx published The Communist manifesto in 1848.

- The first plastic was invented by Alexander Parkes in 1855.

- The world's first commercial oil well was drilled in Poland in 1853.

- James Clerk Maxwell unified electricity and magnetism into a single theory, classical electromagnetism, thereby showing that light is an electromagnetic wave.

- Dr John Snow traces the source of one outbreak of cholera in London to a single water pump, validated his theory that cholera is water-borne thus beginning the study of epidemiology.

- The first public exhibition of a Foucault pendulum took place in February 1851 in the Meridian Room of the Paris Observatory.

- American Express was founded by Henry Wells & William Fargo.

- Solar flares were discovered by Richard Christopher Carrington (1853 -1861).

- The Production of steel was revolutionized by the invention of the Bessemer process

- The first commercially successful sewing machine made by Isaac Singer.

Most of the above are now fully integrated into our lifestyles and consciousness. Many of the above we can’t imagine living without. With this next long transit many of the above are up for review: the theory of evolution, our global economies reliance on oil, the pervasive use of plastic. We must also review our healing techniques and medicines and how the way we perceive our environment impacts on our well-being.

It is crystal clear from the ingress chart above that when Neptune moves into Pisces new beginnings are being channelled. The dominant presence of planets in Aries heralds a new cycle. Uranus and Mars conjunct are the prime motivators leading the way, ahead of the Sun, highlighting an active and restless period ahead, one full of drive and action. There is no stopping us now. The Jupiter Sun alignment heightens and expands this urge, the need for growth and expansion and truth. There is a strong urge for freedom from the constraints of the past. Eris the freedom fighter is prominent with Mercury and the Moon. She is the goddess of discord, awakening us to the world wide mess we have created. Saturn now in the last months of its waxing cycle with Jupiter, opposes Jupiter and the Sun, exposing the great imbalance. Saturn’s job at this pivotal point is to discipline us toward balance. A new cycle urges us on regardless and the Saturnian parts of life, attitudes of the past and the authority, will find it difficult to hold on and affirm themselves unless they attune to the developing principles and attitudes of change.

A new moon signals the freshness of this time and with a retrograde Mercury closely conjunct we are all very perceptive as the future and past come into light. Mercury and Moon align harmoniously with the karmic Nodes enabling us to make thoughtful change. The seeds of change are being nurtured by Ceres, Venus and Chiron in Pisces. Our past unwillingness to change comes back to haunt us.

With Neptune at zero Pisces, we will have a long opposition to the fixed star Regulus. Regulus is moving to 0 Virgo in November 2011 (according to Solar Fire) heralding a shift from a Leo inspired world, based on leaders , kings, gold, the drive to succeed and be known and be better than the rest, full of egocentric attitudes, to a Virgo ruled world, where the sacred, earth, and a service to Gaian principles move us to want to make things work better. This is the new version of the archetypal hero’s journey. The new heroes will be those attuned to the service of the Earth and the Sacred and technology will become king. Regulus moving to Virgo is a hugely potent symbol of the great shift in consciousness. With the opposition to Neptune in Pisces we will undoubtedly have a changing of the old guard.

Venus is exalted in Pisces, honouring Neptune and encouraging us to move closer to a relationship with grace and the divine. This chart indicates that priorities are shifting. Retrograde Mars opposes Venus suggesting a refocusing and reminding us that directing new energy won’t be easy. These twos planetary partners form a T-square with the Moon in Gemini, the rethinking process is complicated. Jupiter in Taurus, a powerful image of nature and resources is opposite Saturn indicating the deliberate steps that must be made for us to move forward with integrity. Mercury is again aligned with the Nodes and this time with the Sun in the rational light of Aquarius. This is indicative of a better attitude about working together. This time Ceres with Uranus at the beginning of Aries, gives great hope in having changed our minds about our neglect of Gaia. She may be retaliating at this stage, with the square to Pluto approaching. Chiron opens doors to the heavenly realm as it nears the conjunction with Formalhaut, the mouth of the fish, wide open inviting us to the unknown. I look forward to the world reshaping itself around us.

What’s to come? Pisces and Neptune conjure inspiration and hope, with the globe at absolute crisis point we may expect the following to take precedence and flourish:

• Water energy and all issues to do with water as a resource

• A sense of needing more nourishment, reviving, healing, strong, unavoidable feelings

• Doing without, depletion, giving up, who cares attitudes

• Collective sacrifice, giving, involvement, passionate connecting

• Focus on hope, vision, creativity

• Mayhem, anything goes, no control,

• Freedom from ties, moving away from the ordinary

• The development of a greater understanding and trust of invisible energies

• Psychic potential, healing with the paranormal, telekinesis, remote viewing, levitation, precognition, magnetism, telepathy,

• Butterfly effects, following trends, 100th Monkey syndrome, crowds, masses

• Ideas merging, sharing, seeding • Previously inaccessible information becomes available

• Ideas, concepts, discoveries that greatly influence and shape our worldview

• Ideas, attitudes, trends that spread, take flight, take off, be totally unrestrained - and therefore also potentially super dangerous.

PART 2 - Neptune's Return - The birth of a New Cycle.

Galileo's first sighting of Neptune 1612*

Galileo first sighted Neptune in 1612, when Neptune was exactly conjunct Jupiter at 26 Virgo. He mistook Neptune for one of Jupiter’s Moons. This seems an appropriate introduction for the planet that would come to symbolize the mysteries of life, the unseen and the confusing and also its co-rulership of Pisces with the traditional ruler, Jupiter.

Neptune was discovered on the 23rd September 1846, Berlin - 9:00pm**

We now have the return of Neptune to its discovery degree. Neptune returns three times to this point, 25’53 Aquarius, twice in direct motion, once retrograde and stations direct one minute away from the exact discovery point on 5 November, 2010. The first direct return was April 11, 2009 and the second was February 7, 2010. If we take into account Neptune's precessed position from discovery in 2010, to be 28 '10 Aquarius we note that Neptune returns here during 2010 and also into 2011 ***. With these Returns a new cycle of Neptune begins.

All charts live on and continue informing and pulsating, the more we look the more we see, the more we see the more we uncover. In this study I will only address a few ideas and connections, as Neptune’s tentacles are vast and far reaching with too many avenues of exploration. My aim is to consider connections of the discovery chart and how that ties into 2010 and Neptune Return charts. Firstly the discovery chart has a zero degree Libra Sun. Neptune’s Return years during 2009 and 2010 could be considered more influential as the T-square formation at zero degrees of cardinals reflect a Neptunian tinge, with the discovery Sun at this zero Libra degree.

Pluto and Uranus in Aries in this discovery chart indicate new energies, collective change and transformation was also part of this discovery. Pluto sextiles the Neptune/Saturn conjunction, forming a yod that points to Mars in Virgo. This yod, then, is associated with power, corporations and control, monopolies that have been built around the “new energy” of the time, Oil. Oil has been associated with Neptune, as the discovery of oil and it’s use coincided with Neptune’s discovery. The focal point of the yod is Mars and as we know power games over the world’s oil reserves have been the prime motivator for many wars and numerous financial, nationalistic and political agendas ever since.

Mars is at 25 Virgo and Sedna is at 26 Pisces opposite this point. Mars in Virgo, with Mercury and Venus, suggest the ecological concerns we now face due to the careless use and production of this precious commodity, especially it seems in our oceans. The mighty oil industry, the wars that would ensue, the cover ups that would be fabricated and the health of our peoples and environments are all indicated in the discovery chart. Sedna’s position in the chart has been activated this year by Uranus and Jupiter’s position during this years Mexican Gulf oil crisis as they hover together around this degree during 2010. Also during this oil crisis Neptune was at 28 Aquarius, it's precessed return position as noted earlier. *** Eris sits at the end of Aquarius a point energised by both Neptune and Chiron also during the crisis and 2010. It seems Neptune’s discovery chart and return have been notably activated.

Oil the world’s dominant energy source since Neptune’s discovery, has been powering our industrial cities, infiltrating our lives and in the process destroying natural habitats and the quality of life of many in the developing world. We have all been affected by the globalization of oil companies controlling this natural resource. Pluto is conjunct the South Node of the Moon, in Aries. Pluto, also very much associated with oil, as it’s from the deep, down below, is dark and dirty, with the South Node shows a fated and karmic connection to this liquid gold. It is now that we are told we are reaching “peak oil” reserves, peak oil provokes a crisis but crisis means change. Peak Oil is only a formidable crisis when we refuse to see that a New Energy can exist. Our historic reliance on the plentiful and cheap supplies of fossil fuels, has been ensured by powerful oil industries that often oppose incentives for renewable and sustainable development. We can also see that the Moon is in Scorpio and is ruled by both Mars and Pluto. Here she exemplifies the ruthless control and use of this resource, for power and money.

Another very interesting aspect to consider, which happened around the time of Neptune's discovery is population growth. Populations around the globe began to soar around 1850. In one Neptune cycle we have grown from 1.2 billion people to nearly 7 billion. The use of fossil fuels, the industrialization of cities, food production, developments in medicine and healthcare all contributed to this rapid, exponential growth. With this next cycle we are faced with many global concerns as to how to cope with growing populations, food and water supply, pollution, and healthcare, fiercely dominated by the almighty powerful pharmaceutical industry.

Neptune moves into Pisces, in 2011, we will feel the more serious effects of overpopulation: Pisces is a sign of extremes and Neptune knows no bounds : no doubt we will see and experience food shortages, not enough for all, the give, the take, the haves, the have nots, those that will suffer and those that will hoard, those that will not share and those that will continue to rip off what they can, some for the dire necessity of survival. The breaking of borders and boundaries in all senses could very well be imminent. Neptune can also bring with it a solution: new inspired ideas, universal consciousness and visions for the future. The chart for Neptune’s Pisces ingress has a predominance of Aries planets, indicating bold new beginnings. This will be explored in the next instalment.

When Uranus returns to its position in the discovery chart in 2013 and Pluto squares that degree, we may begin to notice significant developments of new energy sources implemented around the world. Pluto squares 25 Aries degree in 2020, which is also the beginning of a new Jupiter Saturn cycle. Jupiter and Saturn will cycle through air signs for 200 years. The last 200-year cycle of Jupiter Saturn conjunctions has been in earth. This transition from Earth to Air is redolent of lightening up, of moving from resource based economics towards rapid social progress, intellectual developments, new concepts entering into human consciousness, paradigm shifts, solving the problems of the past.

2010, marked by the cardinal T-square, and close alignments with Ceres and Pluto, has been a hugely significant year. As the Mexican Gulf environmental crisis and the disgusting antics of BP, an erupting Icelandic Volcano, the worst floods ever in Pakistan, China and India devastate our world, it’s not difficult to correlate these disasters with Neptune. Neptune rules water, the oceans, oil, lies, deception, cover ups, mistreatment, drowning, waste and nature’s fury as the God of storms and wild weather returns with a message for the collective.

The message is embedded in the charts of the Returns. In the first return in 2009 (inner wheel), the most significant aspect is the Neptune, Chiron, Jupiter alignment. The triple conjunction alerts us to the new cycle of Neptune as a harbinger of massive changes in consciousness regarding world affairs and of a healing of the self inflicted wounds of constant progress.

The significance of Neptune’s return coinciding with the ecological crises, the global financial crisis and a growing awareness of the looming date of 2012 and what that may mean, an awakening of humanities crisis in consciousness as we consider global transformation, all become highly significant in the development of a new world and paradigm shift. The triple conjunction is squared by Sedna, goddess of oceans and the Moon is in Scorpio again highlighting shared resources. The oceanic realm will be under the spotlight, also how we control, share and protect its resources and purity.

Water, water, water is highlighted in this chart. Neptune, Jupiter, Chiron and the North Node of the Moon are all in Aquarius, an air sign, but the sign of the water-bearer. Aquarius signifies humanity’s capacity to give what is needed back to the people and the planet. Mars and Venus are in watery Pisces. Venus is at a very potent point on the anaretic degree and the border of new beginnings. Venus is retrograde and closest to the earth in her cycle. So close to the zero Aries point, what we value on this planet is up for review in this next cycle.

With Pluto in Capricorn, trine to Ceres at zero Virgo and with Saturn in Virgo we can see that an ecological outlook is needed and will be expected in the systems of governance and corporations in the future. Ceres, earth goddess and now deemed equal in stature with Pluto, at zero Virgo conjuncts Regulus. This bright star will ensure that the development of the next cycle has the environment and deep ecology as the main focus.

With the Moon in Scorpio we know that the future requires investment into these ecological systems and we don’t have to guess that there will be those that will be doing this for all the wrong reasons. Mercury creates a grand earth trine with Ceres and Pluto, trade and ecological economy will now be turning a new leaf. With the Sun and Eris in Aries, two warrior types denote new beginnings and a mission. A warrior attitude to get things done shines in our consciousness it’s a matter of perhaps, survival.

The second return (outer wheel) interestingly repeats a yod pattern, this time with Pluto and Jupiter pointing to a retrograde Mars. This alerts us again to energy systems, power, wealth, war and ego consciousness and with Mars retrograde a warning as to how this can all go wrong, or is going wrong or will go wrong if we don’t carefully adjust. The Pluto Saturn square shows the breaking down of outdated systems that will prevail. This time Venus forms a triple conjunction with Neptune and Chiron. She has joined the mission of fairness and equality. The Sun also in Aquarius, again illuminates the message of the water bearer.

Jupiter has moved into Pisces and squares the Moon in Sagittarius, showing a strong global feeling is in the ether. Collective consciousness, world views, philosophies and core belief systems are being challenged. The Moon conjuncts Antares, the rival of Ares, indicating the common feeling of the people is that we are aware, alarmed and ANTI many things we see continually played out on the world stage. The new consciousness cannot allow old patterns to continue.

For the final return, this time the Sun is in Scorpio. It seems Neptune is highlighting our passion and integrity, we have to get to the real crux of the matter. Uranus and Jupiter are both retrograde in Pisces, what we have been alerted to now becomes the difficult task of working out what to do and how to proceed. How to change, feel inspired and uncover new possibilities becomes apparent before we can move forward again.

Neptune is still travelling with Chiron for this next return and has ensured that the new cycle of Neptune be guided by Chiron’s wise ways. Neptune ensures Chiron’s next cycle is inspired and illuminating. Can we collectively recognise and embrace our wounds so that they may be healed?

Again Venus is retrograde and at the 29^th degree, this time in Libra. She always seems to be reviewing and re-evaluating and this time it’s about justice and fairness. Do we really value these attributes? With Ceres, Pluto and the North Node in Capricorn, what holds true for the first return chart continues to be a theme; governance and corporations are to be held ecologically responsible . Our common restless nature remains with the Moon again near Antares, this time with Mars, reaffirming our stance of changing our priorities and directions and acknowledging that war doesn’t fix anything.

Whatever chart for the Return we look at, 2009 and 2010 have been hugely significant years and Neptune returning has illuminated and unveiled a path. The path is not so clear and perhaps never will be. Remember Neptune takes us on journeys of getting lost, becoming caught in nets and losing our way, but this purpose seems to teach us to learn to trust, have faith, seek a more spiritual path, tap into the psychic realm, glean creative inspiration and develop a more compassionate outlook. It seems we do have great powers locked away in the unconscious that we don’t use, simply because we don’t believe in them. Science has told us not to believe, magic is a superstition of the past. With Neptune’s Return, can we not celebrate a return of these processes , magical thinking and magical living.

Spiritual growth, universal causes and a greater connection to our cosmic consciousness has been awakened. In times of crisis great things are born. Neptune rules chaotic energy and systems and that move us to continue to create, to blend, to perceive, to go beyond. Neptune’s strong associations with the unconscious lead us to explore unconscious processes and by doing so, we make them conscious. Part of this crisis in consciousness is to seek and believe in a different way.

Together with reopening the unconscious realms we can reignite and further awaken Gaian consciousness a connection to the world soul, the anima mundi which has sadly been lost in the de-sacralisation of nature, and through the dogma of science and religion.

The world soul has arisen out of Biology. It’s an organism within the universe of space, time, but it didn’t make the universe. It’s an inhabitant of it, but on a scale that makes us mere atoms within it’s form.”**** Terence Mc Kenna

As Neptune represents invisible energy let us use this energy wisely and keep directing it to a more illuminated place.

In my next instalment I will look at the ingress of Neptune into Pisces and previous times when Neptune was in Pisces throughout the ages. Briefly, Neptune’s journey in Pisces through history has seen :

-Ideas, concepts, discoveries that greatly influence and shape our worldview

-Far reaching ideas that add to the greater understanding of ourselves as part of the world and universe

-Influential philosophies and theories develop about the connection between body, mind and spirit

-Changes in what we believe that have a great global influence and affect all

-beliefs, or truths that permeate the worldview or get worked into the system

-the reshaping and shifting of universal consciousness although not immediate were spawned and seeded at these times.

Neptune’s Return and Beyond: The Big Waves and Undercurrents in a changing world: Part 1

Adapted from a lecture presented to the VAA (Victorian Astrologers Association) in April 2010 as an adjunct to showing the C*I*A’s 30 minute documentary movie, Neptune’s Return. This article will be presented in four parts over the next few months.

1: A- Neptune’s Return 2009-2010 - The global atmosphere surrounding Neptune’s 1^st Return, financial meltdown, climate change, earth changes and the changing hierarchies in our solar system, the indicators of the great shift taking place in global consciousness and the other things we didn’t put in the Movie.

2 : Neptune in Pisces - 2011 - 2026 - The Charts of the ingress of Neptune into Pisces, a look at previous years with Neptune in Pisces, what to expect this time around.

3 : The Venus occultation of 2012 – June 6 2012 - A look at the Venus occultation cycle, shifting from Sagittarius to Gemini, Venus occultations seem to herald great shifts in cultural, philosophical, scientific and artistic values, very timely for such a highly anticipated year.

4 : A look at 2012, Mayan mythology and cosmology, the Astronomy of the end of an Age, the astrological outlook , 21/12/12 end date, eclipses, the Super Galactic Center and the Great Attractor which seem to be highlighted in this year.

Neptune returned to its discovery degree exactly, in April 2009 and then again February 2010 and it seems strangely fitting that we find ourselves in the midst of great concerns about the future of our planet during this time. As we acknowledge Neptune’s 1st birthday, his return to the place of the zodiac of 25 deg 53’Aquarius, where he was first sighted on 23 September 1846, now 164 years later, we are alerted to the many things that developed in our world back then and the consequences related to them a whole cycle later.

Neptune's birthday being in Aquarius highlights Neptunian themes in an Aquarian context. Aquarius, the sign of the commons, the global mind, looking at the future, new ways and all the alternatives, together make an important backdrop to the great global shift in consciousness taking place around the planet. Global catastrophes seem to remind us constantly about the fickle nature of our interdependent existence, how the quality of the air, the oceans and the natural world belong to us all, regardless of status, wealth, race, colour or creed. It is hard not to relate the idea of these great global concerns as belonging to the realm of Neptune. Neptune, the great cosmic energy symbolic of that which connects us all. Neptune, most commonly associated with the collective unconscious, can also be understood, as universal consciousness, as we move forward in understanding the nature of reality and consciousness itself as one.

As with the energy of Neptune, which cannot be contained or bound, we look at the timing of this return exact in 2009 and 2010, but note that the return can easily span 5 to 10 years backward or forward from 2009/10. With a 164 year time frame between exact returns it would seem that the orbs associated with this return span many years. Pluto will have an opposition to its discovery degree whilst in Capricorn in 2016 and 2017. During Pluto’s series of squares with Uranus over the next few years, this could be the point when we see the great transformations anticipated with the Uranus square to really come to light, or finally come to fruition. Uranus having had many returns to its discovery degree, deserves another article, but it is worthy to note these discovery points and oppositions as important markers in the developments here on earth. Uranus was discovered at 24 deg 27’ Gemini, and the last time it was found at this degree was during the volatile post war years of 1947-48, when the world was teaming with Civil wars, the Soviet force took away more freedoms in countries like Poland, Hungary and Czechoslovakia, freedoms were gained in places such as Israel and legendary peacemaker Gandhi was assassinated.

It is now quite evident that things must change and as Neptune’s return coincides with the great T-square line up of mid 2010 with all the planets involved, Pluto, Saturn, Jupiter, Uranus, and as the long term Pluto Uranus square begins and continues, we know and can feel that the world is in the midst of great change.

Quite simply the current worldview, actions and motives can no longer sustain us. New discoveries, ideas, new ways and thinking are developing to make us cope with this transformation crisis. As biologist Bruce Lipton reminds us “crisis ignites spontaneous evolution”. We are now at this point. Bruce Lipton also tells us, that it is now no longer about the survival of the fittest, but it is those most able to adapt to their changing environment that are most likely to survive this world**. We are changing our minds and reprogramming our thinking, adapting to quantum values and changing our beliefs to adapt to the changing world and our evolving consciousness.

Neptune was discovered at the time of the beginnings of industrial and organic chemistry, the production of plastics, the discovery of oil and its production, the development of the motor car, providing energy to fuel our modern cities. Many aspects of these developments which started about 164 years ago have now become dangerous, toxic, detrimental to our health, wellbeing and lethal to further progress. We now re- evaluate the virus of progress, as well as its rewards. As Darwin’s theory of evolution, the Marxist manifesto, impressionistic painting and photography bloomed about 164 years ago, we now relook and reconsider new ideas of evolution and the implications of progress, the dominant class structures of the capitalist society, of power and profit making corporations and altogether we look for new ways of looking at the world, as the next cycle of Neptune is born.

Pluto’s demotion back in 2006 has made Neptune now the outermost Planet. Demoting Pluto seemed quite appropriate and true to his mythology, he seemd to go back to the underworld where he belongs. Timely for sure and not surprising, that Pluto was first discovered at the last major financial global crisis in 1930 and was demoted just before another major financial crash in 2008. Is our awareness of plutonian themes, extraordinary greed, wealth and power an appropriate symbol of Pluto’s demotion? It does seem quite appropriate for a changing of the guard, a consciousness shift. Neptune now physically at the end and the edge of our solar system, very appropriate for a planet representing the beginning of the unknown, symbolic of transcendence and moving beyond to another realm. The planet where ego consciousness dissipates, may very well also symbolise a return to Universal Consciousness, that which may very well save us.

To add to the shift, the asteroid Ceres, perhaps previously not so important for many astrologers, was elevated to the dwarf planet pantheon and her elevation now equals the status of Pluto, both now in the same class as they are both Olympian Gods, Demeter and Hades. Concern for the earth and all its blooms and intricate sytems is much more important now, than wealth power and material accumulation. The myth of Demeter and her daughter Persephone and their association with Hades tells us more of this intriguing saga. More about the myth.

The great reshuffle also birthed over the last few years a few new astrological connections. Added to the same class of dwarf planets and plutoids (objects beyond Pluto), Haumea (2005)-named after a Hawaiian Goddess of Childbirth, Make-make(2005) named after an Easter island Creator God and Eris (Ares’s sister) appropriately discovered in Aries, in 2005 . Eris, The Goddess of Discord ,who’s discovery also seems very timely, as if she threw her apple of discord and disruption into the planetary party in order to wake us up, to help us judge what was most important in the world. Did we wake up to the superficial values that we hold, that lead to wars as the myth of the Judgement of Paris leading to the Trojan War suggests.More about the myth.

We also now have Sedna in Taurus, discovered in 2003, an Oort cloud object, bright red and shiny with a 10,500 year cycle so very distant, but nevertheless interesting. Because of her distance and coldness being so far away at the edge of our solar system,, she was named after an Inuit Goddess of the sea. Sedna’s myth relates to the gifts of the oceans, telling an awful story of hunger, betrayal, dismembering and shape shifting to a new existence. More about the Myth.

It seems as though we are gathering more feminine energy to cope with an over exaggerated male dominance on earth, reflected in the planetary hierarchies. This reshuffle at the edge of the solar system and the myths associated with the various new deities associated with these bodies, seem to reflect our growing conscious awareness to planetary resources and their decline, the readjustment of wealth and power, a rebirth and a recreation and a return of the divine feminine. The change of hierarchies in the heavens reflects the change in conscious priorities down here on earth..

There are also a few more indicators of the great shift coming up over the next few years. Firstly as Neptune moves closer to zero Pisces, it opposes the fixed star Regulus. They have been moving into this alignment over the past few years with the asteroid Chiron. Regulus in the constellation Leo, the heart of the Lion, one of the four Royal Stars defining the four corners of the fixed zodiac, most commonly associated with kings, princes, prestige, honour and fame, but also very appropriately for these changing times, the concept that “wealth won’t necessarily bring happiness”. During this period we also have the move of Regulus into Virgo at the end of 2011, after being in Leo for the past 2160 years, due to the precession of the equinoxes and our tropical zodiac, it now starts a 2160 year reign in Virgo. Virgo the sign of sacred service becomes a focus, those who can best service and serve the planet, not use it for there own greed and satisfaction, will be the new heroes. Interesting also, as we witness more Pluto in Virgo and Uranus in Virgo generation leaders take centre stage, as well as more women in positions of power. (more on this in part 2 Neptune In Pisces).

This theme continues with the mythology of the Mayans, as their creation myths, and prophecies come exactly attuned to the their sacred calendar that finishes at Sunrise in Mexico on the December solstice in 2012. The myth tells of the fall of a corrupt ruler Seven Macaw, who has ruled the last age of Man since 31oo BCE and the rebirth of the solar deity One Hanapu, who is bought back by his twin sons and a new age of man begins. This new age of Man also sees the long awaited return of the feathered serpent God, Quetzalcoatl who once walked the earth, having left the Earth due to its corruption and moral and spiritual demise, he returns as humanity moves from the a material world to a more spiritual and enlightened existence. He himself represents Mind over Matter as his serpent body and feathers suggest. Ego consciousness giving into transpersonal/universal consciousness is surely something to look forward to. Just a reminder, Neptune can be seen through a telescope, it is a massive blue, green gaseous planetary giant and true to its astrological nature, it phases in and out of being seen. Neptune’s realm, not always seen, but always there, invisible energies that shape our lives without us even knowing it. Neptune reminds us of where we are now, not knowing what to do or where to go, confused about what’s real and what’s not. Is it climate change or is it cyclic? Is it the end? Is there any hope? Neptune’s Return, an end and a new beginning. A new beginning in the way we perceive and connect to our world, our changing environment and our changing priorities.

As we communicate behind the masks of computers more disconnected than we think, a Neptune in Aquarius legacy, as we furiously network to change the world, build connections, think of alternatives, sometimes it does feel hopeless. As the multinationals debate carbon trading, how they can own Sun energy or mine the minerals on the Moon, as world economies continue to collapse, Neptune reminds us of what’s possible, to imagine a better world, believe in something greater, to become less materially focused and have faith in the unknown. As we become more aware that consciousness creates our reality, not the fate of some unknown God, we the creators of our own destiny are called to plan the future and how we would like too see it unfold. With Uranus having been doused in Pisces for the last seven years and Neptune too fixed in Aquarius for the last twelve, both energies become freer over the next 2 years when we can expect a more passionate return and re-engagement with each other and the world's changing paradigms, with Uranus in Aries as Neptune returns to Pisces in 2011.

We can be Heroes

During a cold, wet and wintry August 2009, I watched many great documentaries during the controversial Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF). The controversy involved the showing of a film The 10 Conditions of Love by documentary maker Jeff Daniels, about Uighur leader Rebiya Kadeer, whom the Chinese government call a liar and a terrorist. The Chinese embassy demanded the film be pulled from the festival, but when Richard Moore, the festivals director decided to screen the film and even move it to a 1500-seat showing at the Melbourne Town Hall, he showed China that it has no right to dictate what we see here in Australia. As a protest by the Chinese, the MIFF website was hacked and replaced with a waving Chinese flag and anti-Kadeer slogans.

Subsequently the controversy has sparked great interest in the film around the world.In addition to this, during this time there were protesters campaigning outside MIFF movie theatres against the partnership of MIFF with the Israeli film industry, sparking more controversy and attracting attention to the festival. With a gay rights march passing by the Victorian State Parliament, campaigning in support of gay marriage, there definitely seemed to be something in the air. As we find ourselves between another Saturn (rules, restrictions, status quo) / Uranus (change, rebellion, revolution) opposition and with the current astrological line-up of Neptune (film, imagination, the collective unconscious, water, divine connections), Chiron (the asteroid associated with the maverick healer) and Jupiter (the seeker of truth, meaning and justice) – all part of the planetary signature of 2009 and 2010 – these protests and the documentaries I watched are a great example of the archetypal energies in effect at the moment.

Movies I watched included The Cove, The Yes Men - Fix the World and Food Inc., all very informative documentaries dealing with the depletion and deteriorating quality of our air, our water, our land and the spirit of the people around the globe and already these films have motivated and activated many people’s imaginations with respect to these issues. These documentaries reflect the Saturn/Uranus opposition, people taking action, acting from their own sense of authority, not waiting for a green light or a nod from bureaucracy in order to be allowed to expose, film or speak the truth, but just getting on and doing it. Saturn and Uranus denote the concept of the old and the new, stagnation and renewal, control and freedom.

The triple conjunction of planets Jupiter, Chiron and Neptune is in Aquarius, the sign of the commons, the community and the future. As we collectively look to the future and our personal role in its unfolding, Jupiter reminds us to speak and seek truth, Chiron reminds us of the painful mess (and its self-inflicted nature), and Neptune gives us hope, bringing with it a strong idealistic urge for selfless action and self-sacrifice. Together we search for truth behind deception, cover-ups, the lies and corruption that lurk behind the motivations for greed, money and power in every country around the world at the moment. There is a sense of there being no hope for the future if we all don’t take serious action and do something about it.

If you’re not doing something yet to be part of the great changes that need to take place, then these movies are bound to inspire you into some kind of action, or at the least make you question why you’re not playing your part. It is through the tribes we are building on the internet, online communities who share the same goals and values, that differences are being made today. It is through movies, like these documentaries, that we are also making progress, reaching audiences through the universal language of film, activating and motivating people to join a cause. These planets in Aquarius – together with Uranus currently in Pisces – bring hope and possibilities within the collective to understand our universal cause, to share our common goals and visions which can lead us to at least some of the changes necessary in this world.

Neptune and film have a strong connection. Neptune and photography materialized in consciousness at the same time. Like photography, Neptune reflects the moving zeitgeist of our culture through fashion, music, celebrities, imagery and art. It is the essence of Neptune which carries us off, enchanted, to different realms and ways of experience. Movies, for an hour or two, put us under their spell and lose us in romance, illusions, fantasy and drama, and through this they manipulate our emotions. A movie can make you feel bad, angry or elated; it can make you weep, make you laugh or make you want to turn a blind eye. Watching a movie has the ability to stir up all sorts of emotional experiences. The music, the images, real or imagined, are all part of Neptune’s realm.

The first compelling documentary I watched was The Cove, a film that delves into the deception and cover-up behind the slaughter of dolphins in a cove behind the picturesque town of Taiji in Japan. The filmmaker, Louie Psihoyos, and a brave troop of activists and free divers together take on a mission, using covert surveillance tactics to penetrate the hidden operations at this secret cove, successfully bringing this information to the world. The filmmaker said “we didn’t need filmmakers” to make this film, “we needed pirates.” This story in particular has an incredible correlation with the Jupiter /Chiron / Neptune configuration, as it is about the mistreatment of one of the most beloved creatures on this planet, the dolphin, the wild creature of Neptune’s marine realm and the deception, the lies and the illusions of this whole cover-up.

The film documents the passion behind the man Ric O’Barry, the trainer of the dolphin “Flipper.” This series started in 1964, during which time Ric lived with the dolphins in an idyllic setting in a bay in the Bahamas where the star dolphins roamed freely during the duration of the series and became Ric’s great loves. Ric’s love of dolphins and later the death of his beloved dolphin Kate, led to his passion and the mission to relentlessly try and stop what happens to dolphins in captivity around the world. After the series finished and Kate was returned to captivity, where she died in his arms, Ric explains that this was suicide. Dolphins and captivity don’t mix, they have the ability to stop breathing at will and do so all the time in the back pools of Seaworld and other such places around the globe. Ric explains that every breath of a dolphin is a completely conscious decision, and they can choose to just not take the next breath, if so inclined. The constant smile a dolphin wears, whether in captivity or not, is as Ric says, one of the biggest illusions of life. A dolphin will appear to be constantly happy, but in captivity they are miserable and because of this they commit suicide constantly, unbeknownst to well-paying tourists watching the show from the grandstand. The suicide of Kate transformed Ric to campaign and continue to free dolphins in captivity and in any sort of trouble around the world, leading him to Taiji in Japan.

Taiji is a lovely tourist village full of cutesy boats in shapes of whales and dolphins taking tourists out to see whales and dolphins roaming free in the nearby waters, where just behind the next hill, around the next cove, dolphins are being herded into coves by fishing boats. Using metal rods that they tap on, the fishermen disturb and disorient the dolphins into the cove exactly where they want them, net them off, and trap them ready for slaughter the next morning. The dolphins’ most acute sense is their hearing, so disturbing the sound of the oceans leads them straight into this trap. Here they slaughter 2500 dolphins every season which starts in September and lasts until March, keeping some alive to trade to the Seaworlds of the world and then selling the rest as dolphin meat to an unsuspecting Japanese public.

Dolphin meat is highly toxic, full of mercury. Dolphins exist at the top of the food chain in the oceans with sharks, marlin, swordfish and tuna and should be eaten minimally. The toxicity of our oceans due to growing pollution levels in our waters, causes diseases such as Minamata disease, mercury poisoning causing severe neurological problems. High levels of mercury and lead can be found in our air too, due to the highly toxic output associated with coal burning, petrol fumes and industry. During the film we are also alerted to the complete ineffectiveness of bureaucratic governing bodies like the International Whaling Commission, heavily influenced and controlled by Japanese magnates, holding all the power who couldn’t care less about the dwindling numbers of whales in our oceans. It makes you want to scream, because nothing is changing and it is all so corrupt.

When Neptune was in Scorpio during the 1960’s, anti-whaling demonstrations started with fervour around the globe, this was due mainly to the fact that during this time we heard the first whale sounds, alerting man to the sound of the oceans and these incredible beings.* Currently in the last 10 degrees of Aquarius, Neptune squares its previous position in Scorpio and dredges up some issues of the past that still haven’t been resolved. Although Greenpeace and Sea Shepherd have been active trying to protect our oceans for a long time now, not for many years has there been so much attention placed onto whaling and the rights of the Japanese to kill them as we have seen during 2009. The plight of the great cetaceans in our oceans, the state of our oceanic realm and quality of our water will become even more desperate as Neptune moves into Pisces during 2011.

The power of the moving image to show it how it really is, is unprecedented. The brave warriors that came together to secretly film and organize getting their cameras into restricted zones, setting them up underwater, to get this out to the world, have done an incredible job to save these dolphins. The Yes Men too, accomplish brave feats to tell their story, unravel the truth and activate change. By impersonating high profile CEO’s from companies such as Dow Chemicals, the Yes Men manage to expose the truth very effectively to an unsuspecting public, but also completely aggravate and expose the true motivations behind some of these large corporations, ultimately motivated by profits only, with no regard for human life and suffering. In places like Bhopal, India, where 20 years ago a huge chemical explosion happened, due to Dow Chemical, then known as Union Carbide, the victims are still waiting for compensation, as this company continues to make billions of dollars in profits year in year out. It’s a joy to see what these brave warriors in film get away with and even more so, what they accomplish.

Food Inc. moves us into the world of food production, the mistreatment of animals to gain greater yields, the under compensating of farmers by powerful corporations, the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer, as the food industry gets mightier and stronger with not much hope for the little guy. Our supermarkets are full of food owned by a handful of companies; if you can afford it it is better to shop at farmers’ markets, support them, they need it more, but as the movie shows us, the big guys undercut the small guys by amounts that matter a great deal to people who just can’t afford a bunch of broccoli, but can still afford a crappy hamburger. This movie wakes you up to the harsh reality of what we consume, what we eat, where it comes from, and it’s frightening. The message, buy what’s in season and start a veggie patch or even think of starting a communal one. Think globally, buy locally.

In a world where Big Brother may be watching us all, satellites that can film you in your back yard, CCTV on nearly every corner, it is these brave and courageous people, these heroes, who by making these documentaries and bringing them to the world, are creating activism and stirring up controversy, showing us all what we can do to compensate, watch back and expose all. This is a Pluto in Capricorn signature that comes together with the previously mentioned alignments, exposing what’s lurking underneath, what the powerful and greedy are doing to accumulate wealth and our global resources, to the detriment of the masses involved. All of these movies involved hidden cameras, agendas, impersonations and people willing to tell the truth to get these stories our there. Not all of us can or will ever be so daring, but we can all most certainly join a cause, via the net, join a tribe and by working together, something can be done.

It may be hard to watch The Cove. As I watched in horror, knowing that many more unjust, corrupt, inhumane occurrences are happening everywhere around this planet, I felt a strong admiration for these brave warriors and others like them, that are getting on with the quest, doing what they can to promote effective change around the globe. I held back tears many times throughout this film, but when the titles began rolling at the end of the film, I cried and cried and cried when I heard my all time favourite very Neptunian song……………………………..

What a thought, sometimes it seems as though the powers that be could and would try anything to try and bring us under control, but as this triple conjunction of planets reflects a world needing to stay on track, working and thinking together about the future, we are reminded to keep a sense of hope for the individual, freedom of speech, action and self expression to guide us on our merry way.As we stick together with like minded groups that make us feel connected in the big wide world, we can only hope that the future is being built by continuing to stand up for what we believe in.

On the 28th may 2009, a rare conjunction that has been in effect since about April this year and lasts until Jan 2010 reflects our world so ultimately connected, but also alarmingly out of sync. The more we feel we progress in the world, helping and caring for each other, raising money, feeding poverty, fighting for a cause, demonstrating etc etc etc, we are constantly reminded of how much still does not change, is beyond our influence, leaving many of us feeling hopeless, depressed and mentally unable to cope with what the future holds for ourselves and the rest of humanity.

As many of us connect via the internet, via facebook, twitter, myspace etc, read each others blogs, share everything we possibly can or want to, whilst feeling somewhat better connected to the world and the growing power of online communities and networking, there lurks in there as well the feeling of being even more disconnected that ever. The signatures of Neptune in Aquarius, a world built on the net, available everywhere seeping through our lives, but keeping us all at megabyte lengths from each other,known by avatars not faces. Our changing world - the atmosphere of our times, a world ultimately so connected, but at the same paradoxical moment, on a individual level we often feel more separated and lonely than ever before, staying behind the safety, mask and anonymity of our Computer.

Of course swine flu, growing everyday with more and more cases, scares the shit out of us, and it wouldn't be a surprise to learn that perhaps it's a WHO tactic, a world organization controlling the masses by breeding fear into them, again. A world organization is pretty scary in itself, as who is it really being controlled by, that's certainly more scary to me than swine flu. An interesting correlation with an Aquarian line up of planets in March 1345 from a statement by the medical faculty in Paris, explains that the “Black Death” was due to the Mars, Saturn and Jupiter conjunction in Aquarius, which explained the “Corruption of the air”*.

The real threats to us now are the masses being controlled. Imagine if our www was disconnected, illegal or what have you. It's been done before, the gathering and distributing of information and knowledge persecuted, books burnt, reading and learning anything besides propaganda in places like the Soviet Union, Nazi Germany and many others over the past century remind us of this. In places like Soviet controlled Lithuania illegal "Book Carriers," "Knygnesiai" developed. They would carry Lithuanian language books from village to village, risking their lives, so the children could continue to learn to read in their native language. The biodiversity, of this planet is what remains under threat under this triple conjunction. In Australia we are experiencing the same unification principle with our native indigenous folk, who are being rounded up in the outback to live in larger communities, destroying their uniqueness along the way, a culture and their elders being ignored as to what's best for them and their people.

As this conjunction brings with it the idea of healing and being healed, healing the planet and everything about it, it also alarms us to what still is happening in so many destructive ways, to try and mould and direct us all, it's more economical, but for who?. Chiron reminds us of the difficult task ahead, how much has cut too deep to perhaps ever repair. Chiron and Jupiter together remind us , to seek truth and habour wisdom, to teach what's important, to breed heroes and individuals, people that make a difference in the world, not sheep, blind and ignorant in their existence. Neptune and Chiron together bring with them a feeling of total despair and giving up, because it hurts too much and it's completely hopeless. Jupiter seeks truth too, truth about what lies ahead, the truth about how to proceed, the truth of what we seek, the truth in the information we receive and retain. Unfortunately the masses are gullible, the 6:00 o'clock news is how most Australians get there daily source of information or mostly they just don't care.The triple wammy, expands these themes in human consciousness , a focus on the importance of spreading truth knowledge and re-learning what we know about what's really happening out there.

The Aquarian focus highlights that it is through community , networking, campaigning, speaking up, being active, that we can do it together in the end. This triple conjunction asks,

What is the vision from on top of the mountain we have created?

Part of the mountain is made of garbage and we are now at the brink of deciding what is rubbish and what is not. With the help of Pluto as it moves slowly through Capricorn and will begin to square Uranus over the next year, the changes we are ready to stand up for are coming. From this point of the journey forward, the Aquarian vision we hold now, becomes ever so important. Neptune, Chiron and Jupiter - visions of hope, mixed with faith and a large does of truth, inspiration and the individuals participation, is our key.

This week when the triple conjunctrion is most exact we have mercury retrograde in Taurus, focusing our attention on the corruption, lies and greed that lies behind much of what goes on. Mercury in Taurus square this triple wammy reminds us too, to be real, to show it how it really is, to meet face to face, to have conversation around a dinner table not a computer screen, to see the other side of the world away from the computer. Instead, we freak out when our internet's not working, or our mobiles are switched off , go for a walk, smell real roses, look at the real world, not a screen for a change.

We are also reminded of the incredible power of creatively, art and music to tell a story, speak to thousands, keep us in wonder and awe, and the power of the individual to speak to the collective. In the words of the famous living Musician Poet, Leonard Cohen, a native of Venus and Neptune conjunction in Virgo, an artist understanding the power of words, the sacredness of love and pain, these lyrics from his song Anthem, remind us to to have hope, that nothing will ever be perfect, and that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, that can never ever be switched off.

On April the 12th 2009 Neptune Returns to it's discovery degree and minute, which it will do exactly twice more during it's one year return as he hovers at this point in the heavens. A birthday that lasts a year, deservedly so, as he is a big inspirational influence in our lives.

The C*I*A wanted to host an Artshow for his Birthday, that may still come together, but like all Neptunian things, the Art show has disappeared for now. A few dedicated agents, however, are working on something that suits Neptune in Aquarius perfectly, and that is a Film about Neptune. So stay tuned throughout 2009.

As we can see (see below chart), for Neptune's 1st birthday, Neptune's closest allies during this return are, Chiron and Jupiter, which bring our focus to the exaggerated need for the healing of our planet. A need for equal communities working together to make this world a better place. Interestingly Neptune was first seen by Galileo and his telescopes, but was thought to be a Moon of Jupiter, and this alignment in Aquarius, harks back to this first sighting of Neptune near Jupiter and their close astrological relationship.

These Aquarian planets are squared by a Scorpionic Moon, our challenge is to dig deep to understand what we fear and why we fear, how we are controlled, and why we chose to perhaps not live magically enough. What keeps us away from taking more control of the directions we are heading that affect us all, like where are we heading? who's in charge of our journey? surely it can no longer be God, and what's my transformative role in this global equation.

Mars and Uranus , opposite Saturn, heralds the undercurrent of us all sensing that somethings not exactly right, and acting on it, trusting our instincts and feelings to challenge the systems in place that demand that we can only have faith in the real and the tangible.

Venus - has a step back into beloved Pisces, as though she doesn't want to miss out on a party that celebrates what we want out of life and living here on Earth. At the crucial point of the Zodiac - just behind the Aries zero point, Venus retrogrades in front of our Sun and reminds us strongly to really ask for what we want.

Neptune's return Chart- using zero Aries. as the time of the discovery, back in 1846 in Berlin, does not have an exact time.

Mercury at 4 degrees Taurus, adds to the Venusian meaning, what do we want. Squaring the nodes, we get the message that our lives depend on it, we are at a crucial point, what has served us in the past needs to be left and learnt from, as we continue to consciously evolve. Mercury trines Pluto, an aspect indicating the conscious transformation of our ideas and thinking, this will help us get what we want, but we just have to trust and believe in what we want, in order to get there.

So for his birthday - crack open champagne, gather your mates and together imagine, discuss and create the image and ideal of the world we all would like to live in. Our ideals can shape our future, but we have to believe that they can or will.

The Astrological profile of Ernesto” Che” Guevara de la Serna

Born 14th May 1928, Rosario, Argentina.

During a Uranus to Sun /Mercury transit I came across the exceptionally well researched and acclaimed biography written by:
Jon Lee Anderson , Che Guevara : A Revolutionary Life, Grove Press, 1997.
I read the book fervently after researching Ernesto Guevara’s birth data for presenting a Mystery chart to a group of Astrologers I study with in Melbourne. Numerous internet searches gave two different dates, one 14th June 1928 at 3:05am, the other 14th May 1928 also at 3:05am(which was also the same through a friend with astrodatabank). The story of his confusing birthdate is all revealed in the book.

The biography starts with the words, “ The horoscope was confounding” and continues to reveal the story behind the true date of Ernesto Guevara’s birth. We find out that Che Guevara was indeed born on 14th May 1928 in Rosario, Argentina. It continues that his mother “confided a secret she had guarded for over three decades, that her famous son had actually been born one month earlier on May 14th. He was no Gemini but a headstrong Taurus”. She said “if her son had not become famous she would never have needed to reveal the deception. The deception had been necessary because she was three months pregnant on the day she married Che’s father, and a doctor friend falsified the baby’s certificate moving it forward one month to help shield them from scandal.”page 1. Ernesto’s parents were both from well known and respected Catholic families of Buenos Aires, large land and plantation owners, who found it necessary to keep away from the prying eyes and ears of Buenos Aires at the time, also saying that their son was born 2 months prematurely.

His mother accounts to him being born at dawn, on May 14th , but no time is given. Finding the time for dawn in Rosario Argentina was first on my agenda. Sunrise in Rosario is at that time of year is 7:40am and dawn is within the half hour before that. In the chart above, I have chosen 7:15 am to be the chart I use for this exercise and the chart that was given to the group to unravel the mystery. Che’s exact birth time however could be somewhat different, I would say no more that ten minutes earlier or later, but then again, what is dawn in a mother’s eyes while giving birth, could also be another mystery. Regardless, a few factors , whilst setting a time for the birth needed to stay in place, Saturn in the 8th and Venus near the ascendant, but in the 12th house, and Neptune conjunct the IC(using placidus houses).The Pisces Moon in the tenth house, the mother’s secret, square Saturn in the 8th, the parent’s marriage, squaring the nodes , the individual’s karmic life directions, Neptune on the IC, not knowing, and the 12th house Venus, Chiron and Jupiter, together all paint the story of the cover up and the excerpt below, infuses the astrology further:

“If their child had not grown up to be the famous revolutionary Che, his parents’ secret might have gone with them to their graves. A rare public figure of modern times whose birth and death certificates are both falsified. Yet it seems uniquely fitting that Guevara, who spent most of his adult life engaged in clandestine activities and who died as a result of a secret conspiracy, should have also begun his life in subterfuge.” page 4.
Throughout the biography we find out a few times, that Che celebrated his birthday on the 14th of June, but it is not revealed whether he ever discovered his true birthdate, but would be very interesting to find out.

The rising of the planet Venus, the ruler of the chart and Sun sign, was perhaps the most important placement to consider in this chart. It was important to have Venus rising and close to the ascendant, not in the 1st house but in the 12th. Venus in the first would make the birth time too early and before dawn, and making the birth time later moves Venus further away from the ascendant. Venus needed to be closely aligned to the ascendant but in the 12th , as I continued to read this biography.

Che, more than anything, was driven by a strong need and desire to help the impoverished and underprivileged in society, spending his life devoted to the cause.. Venus in the 12th but rising, coupled with his Pisces Moon and Mars, shows us a man driven to extreme lengths of self sacrifice to help others in his ongoing fight against imperialistic regimes. Venus in the first would indicate a person more self involved and concerned with their own needs. Taurus energy is like that of a Bull, following a particular path, not concerned with peripheral distractions, or getting there in a roundabout way, totally determined to go straight for the red flag. His Sun in the first house and Venus rising, reflects his determination ,as well as his charisma and charm. Anyone that met Che spoke of an instant liking for the man. He was never concerned about how he dressed, or how he looked , or what he wore, often wearing the same clothes for days on end without washing, even when not in the jungles with the guerrillas. The rawness of this Taurus personality comes out strong throughout the story, his smile and laughter and calm seriousness adding to his uniqueness and unforgettable presence.

The most incredible likeness to Venus rising is of course that he wore the five pointed star on his forehead. Rarely seen without his guerrilla garb, boots and beret, with the representation of Venus, his star, placed always firmly on his forehead. It’s as if he wore his astrology chart on his head, with Venus, rising on his beret! The five pointed metal star he wore was the symbol of his socialist mission, he didn’t wear the Red Star of the communists, nor the Gold star of the military, his socialist cause stemmed from Marxist ideals and his vision was different to that of the communist movements around the world at the time.

His nickname Che, comes from the time he first met Fidel Castro and other Cuban revolutionaries during the mid 50’s in Guatemala and Mexico, when they were all planning the emancipation of Cuba from Battista. “Che” refers to the Argentine way of saying “Hey You” , and stuck with him for the rest of his life, reflecting a no fuss attitude of who he was. It was much more important to him, what he could do. A doctor, a comrade, a respected commander of the Cuban guerrilla forces, the hero of the Cuban revolution, Che was also appointed as chief prosecutor , commander of agrarian reform , the production of sugar and the head of the National Bank of Castro’s Cuba. A career path that reflects all the fixed angles in his chart and angle rulers, the Midheaven, Ascendant, descendant and IC. Fidel Castro writes on the competence, diplomacy and patience of the man, often referred to as Castro’s brain,

“ When grenades were needed, Che set up a factory to make them. When bread was wanted, Che set up ovens to bake it. When new recruits needed to learn tactics and discipline, Che taught them. When a school was needed to teach peasants to read and write, Che organized it.” Castro’s Brain, 1960.

Venus conjuncts Chiron, and the Guevara story deepens. Chiron tells us the story of his weak lungs, his difficulties with breathing , the suffering from asthma all his life and his need to become a medical doctor. He was born with asthma and as a baby and young man, his family kept moving and uprooting the family home, to see if a new location and atmosphere would help alleviate Ernesto’s asthma. He suffered incredibly long bouts of illness at home in bed, missing school for months on end trying to breathe, constantly vomiting and feverish. As a young engineering student , When his much loved grandmother died, he decided to change career paths and study medicine. He wanted to help alleviate human suffering and particularly to help those that suffered the same condition as himself. He wrote years later of having a dream that motivated his decision,
“ I dreamed of becoming a famous investigator………of working indefatigably to find something that could be definitively placed at the disposition of humanity “ page 42. Certainly fitting to what he was to become .

Later, in the guerrilla camps, he continued to be subjected to great weakness due to his asthma, nearly dying many times. He took up smoking cigars in Cuba , saying it helped his asthma. As Guevara was an avid diary keeper, the biography continually references his own writing and we gain great insights into the man, his mind and his thinking. When suffering asthma attacks during his guerrilla missions, he writes numerous times how he comes to understand the necessity of his illness. He opens up to us astrologers his personal connection to the meaning of his Venus Chiron, with Venus being ruler of his house of health the 6th in Libra. He sees his illness as something he knows he needed to have, he saw his asthma attacks as his time out, his time to reflect, hold back and not move for a while. Sometimes crucial to the movement of the Guerrillas which he commandeered. He saw this timing as a time to plan before commanding the next move, and often wrote that if it wasn’t for his debilitating asthma he would be completely unstoppable and dangerous.

His Pisces Moon, 12th house planets and their connections, also his Neptune on the IC in trine with Jupiter in Aries in the 12th, sharing fire with Saturn and squaring the Sun all indicate his illness , his drive for self sacrifice for the greater good, his peripatetic home life, his non patriotic association with one particular country, his never returning back home to Argentina and his universal socialist cause. The astrology and his story fit so well that we have a great sense that his ultimate mission was definitely fated and not his own. When his father asks Che what he planned to do with his medical career, when visiting him in Cuba after the revolution, Che replies,

“I deserted it a long time ago. Now I am a fighter who is working in the consolidation of a government. What will become of me? I don’t know, I don’t even know in which land I will leave my bones.” Page 390

His missions were too great. He was a world leader in the revolutionary socialist cause and became one of the world's most wanted men, spending the last few years of his life in hiding and disguise. He knew that he was creating history as he went, but perhaps never knew how far his legend and his image would be circulated, plagiarized and revered as the ultimate symbol of the revolutionary. We see this astrologically through his, Uranus (modern ruler of the MC) in Aries in the 11th house, trine south node and sextile the North node and Mercury.

The Image of Che Guevara

When we talk about the image of Guevara, a living legend, an archetypal figure , we are all reminded of a specific photo , sometimes referred to as the most famous photo of all time, Guerrillero Heroico, the image above. This image has been copied countless times by artists around the globe in various forms, designs and colours and has become the ultimate image of the revolutionary archetype. This iconic photo was captured on the 5th March 1960, in Havana, Cuba by photographer Alberto Korda, no time available . Taken at a memorial service for fallen comrades of the La Coubre explosion which had happened the day before, the photo however was never published internationally until 1967, the year of Che’s execution. Korda **has stated that he was drawn to Guevara's facial expression at the time, which was one of "absolute implacability ……..anger and pain……… with that great sadness in his eyes”. Korda said the photo encapsulated Che's "character, firmness, stoicism, and resoluteness”.*** The astrological line up in the sky for that day was, Uranus was exactly opposite Venus in the sky, Venus at 17 Aquarius and Uranus 17 Leo, both squaring Guevara’s ascendant and exactly squaring his progressed Moon at 17 Taurus. Che Lives !

In May 2008 at the Cannes film festival, two movies about Che Guevara, directed by Steven Soderbergh were released, “The Argentine” and “Guerilla”. In Cannes and throughout the premier seasons of 2008 and 2009, Neptune transits the midheaven of Che’s astrological chart. A very likely resemblance to Che Guevara and even a few astrological connections make Benicio del Toro(Bull, Taurus) the perfect choice for portraying the Argentine. The resemblance is somewhat uncanny and he was cast to play the part for obvious reasons. Del Toro’s natal Saturn at 28 Pisces conjuncts Che’s Mars, his North Node conjuncts Che’ s Venus, his Venus Chiron conjunction in Pisces sextileS Che’s Sun and his Jupiter exactly squares Che’s Jupiter. A casting choice made in heaven. Benicio del Toro was born, 19 Feb 1967, no time available. The movie is due for release in the USA in Jan 2009 and has already been released in Spain. I eagerly await its release in Australia.

Reading the biography with the chart, making the correlations of his life and times to his astrology was constantly fascinating. Luckily there are many dates in this book and even a death time that make reading the biography even more intriguing and revealing. If only every biography came with a birth chart. For those interested in great biographies that can be followed with an astrological chart, I can highly recommend this book and this chart. As there is so much to write about I will continue with : Part Two, of the Che Guevara astrological story, as I look into his missions, successes and failures , and his death. Our symbolic language, astrology, helps us further connect to his life, his personality, his drive, the times he lived in and the people he was connected to. As the Guevara image continues to resonate throughout the world, during these uncertain times, careering towards 2012, in a world transforming and shedding it’s old skin, we can perhaps take some insights from Guevara and his dire need to fight for more equal societies. ( sans the guns of course), perhaps we are now we learning that world consciousness and conscious evolution can help us get there.

Knight of Swords - Go Obama- Vehicle of Change

After watching “The Choice 2008” last night on SBS a doco examining the history and politics of the US presidential candidates Obama and Mc Cain, I thought it time to document my idea of who would win this election next week. This documentary gave me a good idea of the baggage that comes with McCain, his profile indicates he has too much negative karma attached, the wounds and scars of war and his rise in the political system stemming from his wartime accolades. The fairness, straightforwardness and idealism that comes with Obama’s background , his need to serve the people was clearly evident. Haven’t we had enough of war influenced politicians, time to move on. With Obama’s long serving catch cry - Change - it seems appropriate that with Uranus and Saturn aligned in an exact opposition on election day - we can hope for Change.

Saturn and Uranus could also indicate no change, a stalemate, but I prefer to see the Saturn opposite Uranus as a strong indicator that change will manifest, perhaps we are more determined and focused on these changes than ever.

The other night I did a tarot reading , asking the question “who will win the US election”.I did a pyramid spread of 5, then 4, then 3, then 2, then one card knowing this would give a more definite answer. The run up to candidates was evident in the spread with a definite female causing havoc in the race in the third line. The third line indicated issues and concerns about money and possessions with the 5 of Pentacles Card, The Moon card, an indication that the whole nation and many more people are in tune to this event, and the Queen of Wands perhaps Palin being a nuisance. The second last line came up with the King of Cups and a Page of Swords - an old guy and a new guy. The top card came out - as the Knight of Swords. This could only be the young guy being elevated to knighthood.

After attending a panel of astrologers in Melbourne where different speakers looking at Charts of the candidates and their running mates, tried to ascertain the outcome, i thought that personally I don’t think that an outcome can be seen in the personal Astro charts of the candidates. Although this event being one the biggest in their lives, was not showing up clearly in either natal charts, therefore could not be clearly defined. A Horary led to a Mc Cain win, Mundane outlooks were done using various US Charts, but no one used an Ingress chart. My preference would be the Mundane outlook and looking at Ingress charts for Washington DC for the Libra Ingress of 2008, it defines the national weather so to speak, for the next quarter.

For the Libra chart Scorpio rises with an eighth house moon , giving the feeling of underlying serpent energy rising. Some would say, but Scorpio is a fixed sign - yes - but it indicates transformation and change. Hanging on does not serve Scorpio energy well . Uranus sits in the 4^th effecting a deep down change in the home of the nation. Scorpio has guts and nerve and so does Uranus.

So many aspects can be looked at to see what will happen, but again nothing is ever so clear in astrology. Election day begins with Uranus in the 4^th of DC chart, Saturn at 18 Virgo - has a Sabian symbol of “ a swimming race” - both are in the race, and Uranus ‘ sabian symbol - “a master instructing his pupil “. If the old guy is Saturn and Uranus the young guy , the old guy is in the race but Uranus is a master, Uranus doesn’t change degree that day, because it is retrograde, but Saturn does to “An automobile Caravan” perhaps symbolising Saturn moving away . The retrograde Uranus, more determined and not giving up, being closer to the earth and symbolic of what is now needed here the most. Mercury changes signs too that day and so does the Moon. To me this is extremely changeable energy.

Well we have to wait for the outcome to see, but the symbolic language of astrology is perhaps the best way to see what will happen. Don’t forget the intention of change that goes with the times we are living through. We are living in extremely transformative times, with Pluto at 29 Sag, the threshold of a new beginning. So lets not be afraid to ask for it as well as believe in the unprecedented global intention that comes with this historic event. Go Obama - Knight of Swords.

Last night watching the documentary - 9/11 The Falling Man - by Henry Singer 2006 - which I had seen before in 2007, but watching it again on late night TV like many things, made me also very curious about the Astrology of the moment and the Falling Man. The capture of the image of the Falling Man became one of the most famous and horrific photos of recent times. Famous because of it’s depiction of a man having decided that he would rather jump from the towers than to be choked by toxic smoke or burn to death. This iconic image embedded in our psyche called us all to wonder at what we would do in such circumstances.
It is not 100% certain as the documentary reveals that the falling man was indeed a 43-year-old employee of the Windows on the World - Jonathan Briley - but many clues do show that it was. It is perhaps not important to identify the Falling Man as someone in particular, but that he did represent to us the archetypal Unknown Soldier. As one person interviewed in the documentary says,

The Moon ruler of the midheaven in Gemini and Jupiter in Cancer with the North Node also in Cancer inbetween all in the 9^th house, tell us abit about the story that would come from the photo. Without knowing any more details of the Man, the transits to his astrology during that photo, show transiting Pluto and Saturn which are opposite each other, squaring this man’s Sun and Mercury in Pisces . Neptune is also square natal Neptune and conjunct natal Venus.

If we look at a Solar sign chart which we often do for someone without a birth time, we know he is a Pisces, in death identified as the sacrifice and the victim, the man with incredible faith, that showed to the world the pain of this disaster, like the tarot card, the Hanged Man, often identified as the Pisces archetype, upsidedown falling having decided to take the incredible leap of faith. Neptune, Jupiter and the North Node are in his solar charts 9^th house, again strongly reflecting his faith and belief. The man who became known as the Falling Man Jonathan Briley and his fate, is identified even stronger through the astrological images and symbols. Perhaps this really was the Man who through a Photo bought us such a strong image of the victims sacrificed on that horrendous day.

The day of the Olympics opening in Beijing, occurring in between two eclipses in the signs of Leo and Aquarius and the North Node conjunct Chiron - the chart of the Anima Mundi shows that the spotlight on Beijing ultimately brings up two main issues - the quality of the Air and China's attitude to human rights.

It was written back in March 1345 in a statement by the medical faculty in Paris, that the Mars, Saturn and Jupiter conjunction in Aquarius at that time explained the “Corruption of the air” and the Black Death. Today we have Chiron exactly conjunct the North Node in Aquarius it's easy to see that the country with the a fifth of the worlds population is one of the biggest contributors to the corruption of our air. Perhaps it is a lucky day for the world, a blessing in disguise that highlights the problem on the biggest world stage - the Olympic Arena. If our over ready champions battle it out and we see that some don't make it to the finish line, because they are gasping for air hopefully conscious awareness of this problem will grow. Air an Aquarian element belongs to all, but we continue to see global issues addressed by ignorant and militant governments like China - as not being anyone's business , how they treat their people and indeed what they put into their air. Air pollution kills 656,000 Chinese each year, and 95,600 thousand from polluted water. Chiron conjunct North Node indicates the need for healing these issues as a major priority, the healing of global world direction.
It makes you sick when you think of all the handshakes, the pretense, the money involved with the Olympics as a global farce, an extreme attempt to show each other that all is well in this world, we are all friends, instead of facing up to what's really going on. As China shows off how well their country is doing, proud and happy with their achievements,(Leo- Sun, Mercury) well I'm so glad it's in smog and all the world can see, symbolic of the covers ups the not wanting to see what's really going on and perhaps waking more of us up to try and see beyond the veils of deceit cover up and deception.(Neptune-Aquarius)

Today also in Melbourne 16 Men have been arrested for the biggest ever ecstasy bust in the world where somewhere over 4 tonnes of ecstasy have been seized from a container which arrived a year ago and with the tablets being concealed in Italian tomato tins.
Mars(the cops) Virgo(the well worked out operation) opposes Uranus Pisces (the Dealers ), a Scorpio Moon (Exposing the cover up and huge amounts of money) - Neptune(lies, deception, drugs) opposite Mercury (the trickster, mastermind, clarity) all make up a great story of this incredible bust with a market value beyond comprehension.

Finding The Muse

Over the next few weeks and stretching back over the last few weeks astrologically Neptune conjuncts the North Node within one degree orb in the sign of Aquarius. The nodes North and South are points in astrological charts that mark the intersection of the Moon's orbit around the Earth with the ecliptic path - the path of the Sun. The Nodes carry meaning like all astrological points and planets, the North Node defines a place of opportunity for growth and development, the south represents karmic repression and tendencies that restrict growth.

With Neptune conjunct this North point it also opposes the South point and poses a question to us as a collective. Where are we heading? Have we a great imagined idea, a fabulous Aquarian goal of where we see ourselves going? Or are we completely lost on this journey and quest. Have we found ourselves caught in Poseidon’s nets and seriously have no idea of what’s going on and what’s ahead. Is it too impossible a question to answer or is it too scary to look?

The sabian symbol for 24 plus degrees of Aquarius is -

being a great image of : perhaps we have half an idea, but the other half has not even been addressed or looked at. We can’t fly into the future without both our wings formed. This is also the degree of the next lunar eclipse on the 16^th August also at 24 degrees Leo/Aquarius. What could this mean? Certainly a time to think of forming and paying attention to the other wing.

Just recently in The Age newspaper, I read a scientific report that confirmed to readers, that our assumptions of where we would be at this moment in time regarding global warming and our ecological crisis , are in fact far beyond and more advanced than we presumed a few years ago. We are failing considerably in the quest to save the planet. Our crisis worsens.

Neptune confuses us more - is this task impossible? Are we doomed ? Can we save ourselves still? We’ve had Earthhour and the 2020 conference over the last few weeks, but surely these seem to be miniscule attempts when we think about what we can do and what we could do. Couldn’t we do Earthhour every week, surely it wouldn’t be so hard. Neptune at this nodal point reminds us that all could be lost, as well as all could be saved. Much needs to be sacrificed from so many perspectives - personal and global.

Perhaps Neptune’s presence reminds us to keep the faith, that there is no clear way or solution right now. It’s all so very complex, our issues with the future and how we will survive. However everyone is involved, we are all lost at sea with a confused direction home. Do we bother with all that plastic, or think God one more plastic bag surely won’t make a difference, or lighting my gorgeous open fire tonight surely won’t add much pollution to what’s already out there. We have to keep the faith and believe it will and it does make a difference. If we have no visions , we have no future. The combination of Aquarius, the North Node and Neptune remind us that it is time to imagine and envision, not to fall apart in despair and hopelessness.

Reading about a new documentary soon to be shown at the St Kilda film festival, I thought of this current alignment. A topic that reminds us that however we get there, we need to find the MUSE. “Abusing the Muse” is about Nick Cave, the infamous Melbourne singer and the documentary explains to us the ways Nick finds inspiration and his Muse.

He says this of his creative process:
“ a lot of people think you should wander around and absorb life and wait for the epiphany to happen , but I’m very much a plodder “. He says he doesn’t go to his office when inspired, he just goes in the office every morning, compelled to do some work “I don’t care how I feel or whether or not the muse has struck that day, I just go and do it”.

I love this as an analogy of Neptune right now, if we can’t be inspired or find solutions to our future dilemmas right now, we still need to plod away and keep working on it. To some this is the way, to others, well they do wander around and perhaps wait for epiphanies. Whatever way, we need to find the MUSE to help ourselves through these veils of illusion, delusion and hidden agendas and perhaps cannot afford the time to wait for epiphanies. We would do best to nurture and encourage, make a special time and place, make yourself a date with your MUSE.

BLACK in FASHION

Recently I went to see an exhibition at the NGV in Melbourne - titled “Black in Fashion - from Mourning to Night” - I wanted to see it because I thought - what a great theme - conjuring so many images and the world of Black. Black representing so many things from authority, confidence, mourning, magic, mystery, so much symbolism and meaning, I thought I was in for a treat. The exhibition, however, was quite a disappointment, Besides a few dresses - wonderful as they were, and a few old paintings of Elizabethan women’s portraits wearing Black- and one Punk outfit - there was nothing else. No write ups of the symbolism of black, no shoes, bags accessories, no meanings, no references to symbolism - nothing. Surely the curators could have come up with more than that, such a big theme. You’d think with the resources available to curators at the NGV - they could have perhaps come up with a much more extensive representation - of Black - in Fashion. Perhaps next time they could summon an Astrologer - we can only hope.

Black perhaps is the most symbolic of all colours. In the fashion world it has never not been around, even though we constantly hear or read term such as “Green is now the new Black” or perhaps”blue” or “purple”. But nothing will ever be as powerful as Black.

Black defines pure elegance or outright rebellion to sophistication and power. From the little black dress to the sumptuous flowing chiffon evening gown, a man in a tuxedo. From old rockers to young punks, from Goths and Mods to priests and vampires, widows to witches, burglars and spies, black is a very strong and powerful symbol. It defines someone of authority someone quite confident, someone who is not afraid to show themselves and who they are, someone who wears their authority on their sleeve, or wears black for a reason, like judges, referees and black belts in some martial arts.

Black is not technically a colour but is any colour at it’s darkest value, it absorbs all colour and is perhaps also the most intriguing colour , non-colour, be it found on velvet, shiny vinyl, soft leather or a furry wrap, black has many disguises and many faces.

Psychologically black is usually associated with very negative things, we have a fear of darkness, bad things happen in the dark. Black is associated with the underground, being undercover, unseen. Black is also associated with depression and death, black magic, the Black Market and Blackmail .

As an Astrologer when we think Black - we automatically think of Saturn. Lord of melancholy and authority, death and darkness. Living in Melbourne a city always attuned to the colour black and myself having a strong Saturn and many black clothes - I found that this exhibit fell far from my expectations of what could have been done with such an deeply symbolic topic.

Anyway - another mission perhaps for the C*I*A in the future.

Pluto in Capricorn Conference Sydney 2008

Well it's taken a week to recover from the exhaustion of networking, talking, lectures, meeting new and interesting people, having romantic dinners, talking business and laughing and learning late into the night. It all started with the sad news of dear Heath Ledger- when learning of his death and looking at his astrology and death charts, we noticed T Uranus con SN and Saturn returning, with Jupiter and Venus in Pisces with rx Mercurynataly, we understood perhaps few more things about him, than any of the media speculators and paparazzi, whom he hated. Having many planets in Pisces myself and Mercury, I understand an exhausted mind that is unable to switch off or sleep when necessary.

We found ourselves staying in a wing of the Womens College - called of all places and names in the world"Langley", the name of the town in the USA where the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) has their headquarters. For our first conference as the C*I*A , to be staying in "Langley" helped us all to feel ever more synchronized with the magic of what we are building with our Agency and also this seemed to be a cosmic message that we are on the right track.

I think I was as busy as agent 12 - who sent me off on all sorts of missions throughout the weekend, like loading up the website on the computers in the email room, selling T-shirts and networking. Many hilarious things happened, like being mistaken for having a romantic dinner with 37 in a little Italian joint in Newtown, having water poured on us, for smoking on our balcony(everyone else was doing it too) by a"Control" freak up above and relating this to my "Saturn in Aquarius" or perphas it's Saturn now on my MC. As the lawn-dwellers that we became after this episode, we spent time laughing about dramatisations of mars and merc rx. Catching up on many conversations in the mundane astrological world as we watched the red planet above the trees, and the Virgo Moon above the tower, we reflected on our thoughts of the future and left us all always having so much to say and talk about. It was great how our T-shirts grew throughout the conference as more and more people bought them, I missed many lectures but that's because agent 12 had me doing stuff like walking around the Uni and putting C*I*A cards in the graffitti tunnel and taking photos of the fabulous statue of Gilgamesh, so I plan to get some conference tapes and catch up on a few things. I loved that Agent 23 as confrence MC - wore our T-shirt to the closing ceremony - Thanks 23.

Well we are back now and rested - the mind having had a few good sleeps. One dream I remember during the conference, the night after the Pluto in Cap - panel discussion- when we left feeling as though perhaps we should sell up and move to the country buy a good plot of land to store water and grow vegies -
I dreamt in a more lucid state than being deeply unconscious (my Merc in Pisces finding it hard to fall a asleep)
"Building a university of Astrology - locking the gates and sending out information to the world as required " -
perhaps a paranoia of what's to come, the need for validating astrology, deserving of university status, with much important information to share and distribute. Nevertheless a dream that reflects my love of the study of all things astrological, as well as "wouldn't it be great to be an eternal student at uni again - mid life crisis stuff). At the same time the dream held with it a very Pluto in Capricorn feeling, which was - that there is a real strength and huge transformational time ahead for the world of astrology and astrologers, as Pluto moves through Capricorn, it will be unleashing many deeply hidden and resourceful aspects of the creative treasure we have all found and so dearly need to protect.

Smoked, Pickled, Sun Dried , Salted

Having a few laughs last night - we laughed about aging and how as we age we become more concerned about our health.

Why is it some people smoke all their lives and still live to ninety two, others drink excessively and die of liver cancer, some people are prone to skin cancer, others can drink but don't become Alcoholics, our addictions can be a curse or a saviour at times.

Well laughing seems to cure many things, laughing is the best Medicine, so if drinking makes you laugh, it's also good for you, if smoking makes you chillout then that must be OK too, if having a tan and lazing in the sun makes you feel better then do it and if salting your food makes you enjoy it better then - there can't be too much wrong with it either.

Anyway - we decided that-

smoked, sun dried, pickled and salted goods last and are preserved longer.

So smoking, sun baking, drinking and salting food - is a a good way to preserve oneself -

Here's to the good life - don't stop yourself from enjoying some of life's pleasures.

New Beginnings -2008

During the last week of 2007, Benazir Bhutto was assassinated, David Hicks was finally released and these headlines infiltrated my Dreams. I dreamt that I was the mastermind of a terrorist bombing myself, my friends the people activating the plan, were all in on it by choice, it was to happen at night, perhaps a night club can’t be sure, but throughout the dream it was clear that this was a justified act, needed to be done, there would be sacrifice and victims, but it was all for the greater good.

Quite disturbing to wake and try to find a hint of why I dreamt this. Obviously the events of the past few days were part of it, but then, orchestrating a terrorist act for the greater good, left me itching to sort this one out. What and who am I sacrificing, what part of myself is so determined to to orchestrate a major plan in my life that involves this major act, regardless of the consequences.

Well that’s the frame of mind I entered 2008, pretty intense – it was also a scorching hot week in Melbourne too, when opening Solar fire at 12:02 pm on Jan 1^st 2008, for a quick glimpse at the year ahead, like a Horary question – What’s 2008 going to be like for me? - It never ceases to amaze this world of Astrology, looking at charts, glimpsing a sign, perhaps a deeper meaning. The MC for this time was my rising sign and degree, Sagittarius-can’t tell me what to do, what to follow, how to act, the rising of this time was one degree off my sun sign and degree, Pisces - creative, complex, cursed to swim forever searching, yearning , never still, unless completely exhausted. This type of magical moment, makes me feel and know that I opened this at the right time, to glimpse a meaning for the year. Here it was Mars and Pluto exactly opposite in the fourth and tenth houses, trine and sextile the NN, Saturn rx in the sixth, trine 10^th house Capricorn Jupiter and Sun, which by transit conjunct my South Node, whilst Saturn transits Uranus.

Well certainly a year of personal transformation, determined, working toward my autonomous goals, a challenge to stay healthy and fit enough to cope with the challenges ahead, letting a few things go on the way, but not giving up, as the ultimate goal is to continue toward the North Node, toward the future, to create visions and follow dreams (12^th house an Aquarius).

In the last minutes of Sagittarius, Pluto reminds us all that the visions held and formulated over this Sagittarius period are now moving closer to manifestation, Mars oppositerx in Gemini time to rethink, re-energize, relook at how we are pursuing these goals and visions and at the same time try and be nice about it. The sabian symbol for 30^th degree Pluto, is “ The pope blessing the faithful” – are we all on the right path, are we one of the faithful, being blessed to continue by the higher spiritual source, Sagittarius is about faith, grasping a strong sense of our convictions and what drives us (Mars) is the key to this years beginning.

The year 2008 is numerologically a number one year, a New beginning, on the 7^th Feb, with a New Moon solar eclipse in Aquarius and the beginning of the year of the Earth Rat, this is also the beginning of the Chinese 12 year cycle and with Pluto soon to enter Capricorn, triggering the zero point of Aries(the beginning of the Zodiac) there is a clear message that 2008 is the year for personal and global transformation, time to get on with what matters and begin to manifest all the goals and visions that have been created over the last 12 year cycle and it’s very important to keep the faith that drives you.

Election Party - Vote for Change

With a few other ”Agents of change” we partook in a great night to help contribute to putting out some thoughts, intent and actions and the right vibe toward the upcoming Australian election. Most of us would be voting for change and as “agents of change” it was our role to promote this necessary change. After a crazy fun filled night with some great props (thanks to agents 00 and 24.7) – after lots of dancing, drinks, music and laughter we ended up with sore feet , headaches and hangovers .

Most of us were inclined to the change vote and I’m writing this so we do not forget to send a wave of intention before Saturday that can help us to move that vote. Spend a few reflective minutes to visualize defeat for you know who in whatever fashion or image that helps you connect to that, or crown the one you wish to be victorious, either way its about putting out the vibe of what you’d like to see happen. So sometime before 8:00 AM AEST , spend a quite moment in a visual intention.

The astro make up for saturday has a few encouraging signs as well. The astrology of the hour (when the polls open)has the planetary Agent of Change and New Energy - Uranus, in a place where it rocks the foundations of what we are used to(The IC). Saturn ruler of the old regime and what we are used to is also strong at the top of the chart. However with Pluto and Jupiter rising in the 12^th house (the house of the collective urge) there seems to be an indication that new visions, directions and regeneration is on it’s way. By the end of the day, poll closing time when the people have voted, Uranus is in a good position strong in his own house(the11th) comfortable is a promising placementt, with Jupiter and Pluto in the 8^th house of transformation. Also it is very interesting that Uranus is stationed about to go direct at 9:16pm this same day/night when we vote for our government. This is about the time we get close to knowing a result for who is close to winning, and the cosmis sign of Agent of Change Uranus, changing direction on the same day, is a strong indication of Change. The full moon at 1.30am on Sunday morning is in the mutable(the changeable) signs of Sagittarius and Gemini, changeable and directed energy. The September equinox and the last new moon at 17 Scorpio showed the astro charts also had mutable(changeable) angles(set for Canberra). Another interesting point is that with the Full Moon Chart of Sunday morning, 29 degrees plus of Leo rises and with Mars retrograde(appearing to be going backwards from earths viewpoint) it appears that we have decided to step out and try something different.

After the Election Party lying awake with a bad headache, my intention was to get rid of the headache, inspired by an orderly I was talking to at the party who told me about a Doctor who asks his patients in incredible pain to send white light to the traumatized area to help them relieve some extreme pain after being wheeled in , in emergency, made me remember to try this to get rid of my headache instead of reaching for a Panadol, which I didn’t have with me anyway. Lying there I did send white light and the visual intention to my sore head and a few minutes later realized it had gone. Just a story to show that we all need to remember we can do amazing things and we need to practice. Think and live magically, know that your intention counts and that your intention can help that vote, we only have two choices!

Well the Grand trine of the horserace chart didn't bring in a watery named winner, but certainly a winner that could be said to have reflected the astro signature of the time. Uranus rising trine Sun, trine Mars, an extremely high energy themed planetary combination, saw true to form, the only grey horse, last years loser, who unexpectedly raced up from the back of the racing pack to beat the favourite, was "Efficient". Well who would've thunk, anyway it's only a silly horse race anyway, geared to all the wannabees, the corparate elites and their million dollar tax deductible mini Venices and carbon wasting Ice palaces, built for a day to impress their corporate entourages, who wear ridiculous birds nests on their heads, called fascinators, which are anything but, look down over the mobs, who in fact are people who can't even see the race, pay big bucks to get drunk in carparks dressed up as though they are still out from Halloween, and it gets worse, more women in their ridiculous hats are seen wondering the streets after the race, literally legless, they can't walk in the shoes they are wearing, a tragic look, chaperoned by the blokes they''ve picked up, equally awkward males in penguin suits and lairy ties, stinking of beer and shouting for taxis. Well , it's really only a horserace, imagine if all that money and enthusiasm could be spent on more important things. Oh well - truly fascinating!

Melbourne Cup

That time of year again, when the nation stops because of a horse race. The 12th house rules large animals like horses, and Neptune is associated with horses, so it seems appropriate to say something about a silly horserace. A few years ago Jupiter and Venus aligned in the midheaven during the race and the Favourite won easily. Last year 5 planets in Scorpio aligned in the 9th house of the Melbourne chart, and Delta Blues owned by a Japanese syndicate won the prize.

This time we have, Uranus rising, trine Sun and Mars, indicating perhaps a winner with a name with watery connotations.This draw has a Doplhin Jo, a very watery, sunny and full of energy type of name. Princess Coup works well with the Moon /Venus conjunction sq Pluto/Jupiter,with Uranus rising. Scorpion and Purple Moon also fit the Moon/Venus - Pluto /Jupiter combination. Also Eskimo Queen has an intriguing presence here somewhere. Master O'Reilly and Purple Moon are favourites for the race.Well we'll wait and see - haven't had enough time to look back at past charts.
